Following much discussion and planning, Adventist Care was established formally by the Seventh-day Adventist Church with the opening of Sherwin Lodge in 1963 at Rossmoyne. This residential aged care facility was expanded over the coming years and was complemented with an adjacent retirement village. Doctors Freeman and Sherwin, who had significantly and successfully lobbied for this faith-based aged care service, were honoured by the usage of their names on the property.
